The HobArchies Exhibition 2022
Picture
The HobArchies are back, so sharpen your pencils, layout your paints, and set up your easel, it’s time to capture the essence of those important to you, both people and pets.  This year the HobArchies will be part of a special arts program organised by the Hobson Bay City Council and your paintings will be displayed in the main gallery of the council building and the adjoining hallways leading to the council meeting rooms for a period of 3 months.  This will provide you with an unprecedented opportunity to showcase your portrait works in a prestige, high profile environment.  The Exhibition will be launched at the Civic Centre by the Hobsons Bay Council Mayor and the city CEO on Wednesday the 12th Oct (6 to 8 pm) at a special event which you are invited to attend.

The final program details are as follows:
  • There are two categories for the HobArchies
    1. Portrait of a significant person in your life or a Hobsons Bay resident (any medium, 2D)
    2. Animal Portrait (any medium, 2D)
  • Artworks submitted do not have to be new and can have appeared in past exhibitions.
  • Given the limited wall space for the exhibition, artists can submit 2 artworks.
  • All artworks need to be submitted the week prior (Wednesday October 5th) to the exhibition for review and final acceptance.   This can be done using the submission link here:  form.jotform.com/222276934414861
  • You must be a current financial member of the Hobsons Bay Arts Society to enter.
  • Artworks must be dry, have a hanging cord/wire attached and be labelled on the rear with the artist's name, artwork title and medium.
  • Bump in date is Tuesday 11th October and all artworks need to be delivered to the HBCC Civic Centre between 9.30 am and 10:30 am on that date. We understand that this does create some difficulty for those whose work commitments do not allow them to get to the gallery at this time, but there are no storage facilities at the Council Civic Centre and we hope that you will be able to use your network of colleagues in HBAS to be able to get your paintings there.
  • This is a rare long term exhibition opportunity for artists to have their work displayed in a prestige, high exposure environment.  The exhibition will close on January 23, 2023 and paintings need to be picked up between 4:00 and 4:30pm that day.
  • There is no entry fee for this exhibition, the event is in partnership with the Hobsons Bay City Council.

So take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, paint a new portrait, or rescue that priceless work of art that has been sitting in your storage cabinet, and enter the 2023 HobArchies
