HBAS Free Little Art Gallery (FLAGS) Newsletter - Holiday Edition
Hi FLAG bearers!
Welcome to the Holiday edition of the FLAGs newletter updating you all on our Free Little Art Galleries (FLAGS) programs which are now up and running in 13 locations across Hobsons Bay. We have been very excited by the way in which our communities have embraced the FLAGs. Please see some photos in the slide show below from some of our FLAGs and also click the link below to see an interview between HBAS President Gaye Pereira-Jackson and Yana Jayasinghe a host of the FLAG at Altona Meadows Library.
Being selected to carry out the Free Little Art Gallery project at Altona Meadows Library was a wonderful opportunity. The introduction workshop was a creative and innovative experience and we enjoyed adding our own little pieces of art to create our unique FLAG. We loved seeing it evolve and change with the seasons, from a fairy garden, to a haunted Halloween house and finally into a Christmas wonderland and so did our library patrons. We had such a great response from the people of Altona Meadows, with contributions from a broad spectrum of the community. It was a fun and interactive experience for art lovers of all ages and we had some great additions from our little artists too. Introducing the concept of giving and taking through art demonstrates the power of collaboration and sharing. Our little art gallery reflects the imagination, creativity and diversity of the people of Hobsons Bay.
