September Activity night with Mirabela Varga. A fantastic night enjoyed by a good attendance of members and guests. What a vibrant and inspiring character she is. Mirabela painted one of her signature subjects in Melbourne, her impression of the corner of Flinders and Swanson streets from the North East. Kirsten brought along a video camera to allow us to watch the demonstration on the big screen. No more blind spots during demonstrations.

May activity night Ray Hewitt demonstrates "how to plan and compose a landscape subject" Monday May 25th 2015
Ray explained the importance of breaking the subject into defined shapes. Avoiding splitting the subject into equal parts to cause a boring composition. The value of painting tonal shapes to bring out the lights in a painting allowing the darkest dark to compliment the lightest light. The focus points of the painting should be clearly defined by placing them above or below the centre point and not in the middle horizontally.
