I am a Melbourne-based, self-taught artist who loves learning new techniques and exploring different mediums and subject matter. Each project I embark on usually has some type of new challenge involved, so I have a series of vastly different pieces with no obvious 'style' in sight!
For as long as I can remember I have always found joy in transforming a flicker in my imagination into something tangible and creating something new: something that wasn’t there before I conjured it … Even if it isn’t very good! It’s all part of the learning process.
My favourite medium would have to be coloured pencils, followed closely by polymer clay, paper, acrylic paint and oils. I love ridiculously fiddly, time-consuming work that keeps me occupied for hours! I also have a particular fascination with things that are unremarkable: Everyday items that would often be overlooked. To be completely cliché …to look for the beauty in the mundane.
I love film, travelling (when possible), reading, and I have a busy day-to-day ... from which I like to draw inspiration. I also studied Interior Design at University in the hopes of pursuing my passion for theatre set design into film but I found that I developed a different skillset there, than those that influence my art.
I have, for a long time, used art as a tool for myself: to relax, unwind and focus. It is only recently, and through Hobsons Bay Art Society, that I have begun to exhibit my work and I’ve been overwhelmed by the support that I've received. It has given me the confidence to hope that one day I could make my passion for creating - my career.
