My interest in art began in my mid-thirties with a group of friends doing china-painting. It was all the rage at the time and although I wasn't at all confident in my ability to paint or draw, I discovered I wasn't completely hopeless and that sparked my curiosity to learn about other mediums! This led me to join various art classes and I just absorbed as much knowledge as I could over the ensuing years, experimenting at home with different mediums. I don't have a particular preference for mediums; I love using them all. In terms of subject matter I paint everything from landscapes to still-life, although I have a great love and appreciation for animals and love painting them the most. Lately I've developed a curiosity for abstract and would like to explore that in future.
Since retiring early last year, and having time to myself during Covid I've focussed more on combining my art with meditation. I believe that what we create, whether on a conscious or sub-conscious level, captures and reflects a moment in our timeline; in essence a personal journal, therefore I no longer feel the need to push towards a personal 'signature' style, knowing that being curious and diverse is just being me.
