I come from a musical background and am now exploring my creative abilities as a visual artist. Art was a much loved subject at school but music became my main focus for work and leisure afterwards.
As I wind down my working life I now have the time to reconnect with art – drawing, painting and printmaking. For me, the journey of learning is just as exciting as producing a finished artwork!
Hobsons Bay Arts Society has given me many opportunities to learn about art and participate in activities and exhibitions. I have really enjoyed being a part of the Tuesday Outdoor Sketching group over the last few years.
Soft pastels, pencils and watercolours, used separately and together, are my favourite mediums to create my impressions of local scenes and subjects. Wildlife, especially birds, are of particular interest, and I love to quietly observe, sketch and take photos when out exploring.
